Party like a Parisian

Paris by nightBeautiful, majestic, magical. Paris is a gorgeous, unique city that everyone should see at least once. But if you come to see the sights and don’t check out the fantastic nightlife, you’re missing a trick.

Whether you want film star glam, pounding dance music or way-out-there experimental jazz, Paris has the right nightspot for you.

Electric dreams

Nicolas Jaar at RexThe home of Daft Punk, Laurent Garnier and more, it’s no surprise that Paris is a clubber’s paradise.

Rex Club has been hosting the coolest local and international DJs for almost a quarter of a century. Get past the hard-to-charm bouncers and you’ll be up until sunrise with one of Paris’s hippest crowds.

Still not ready to go home? Make the trek to Concrete and hop aboard the club on a boat. Famous for parties that stretch from Saturday evening until Monday morning, this club is a must for techno and house lovers.

Star for a night

Silencio, photo by Alexandre GuirkingerFancy living like a film star? We know just where to go.

Titty Twister (warning: autoplay audio at link) is something straight out of a Quentin Tarantino film – come here to feel like you’ve been transported to the set of From Dusk ‘till Dawn. There are movie references everywhere you look and if you’re lucky, you might spot a celeb on a raucous night out.

For an upmarket, but not any less unique, experience, go to cult director David Lynch’s club Silencio. Members-only until midnight, this venue has its own cinema and art library, as well as a reflective dancefloor to strut your stuff.

Mix it up

Experimental Cocktail ClubIf you take your cocktails seriously, you’re in for a treat. Along with a wide range of expertly made cocktails, Glass has a light-up dancefloor, alcoholic slushies and lots of hot dogs to keep you going ‘til the wee hours.

Oozing with class and sophistication, the speak-easy style Experimental Cocktail Club sweats the small stuff. Bartenders take care over every little detail of your delectable drink in this atmospheric bar, so you might end up staying for a few more than you bargained for.

Jazz hands

New MorningParis and jazz go together like cheese and wine. Both are effortlessly cool and full of passion, so it’s no wonder that the City of Lights attracts some of the brightest stars of the jazz world.

New Morning’s stage has been graced by icons such as Chet Baker and Dizzy Gillespie and it’s the perfect place to see world-class performances in an intimate setting.

On the east side of town, Le Triton takes a more experimental approach. Come here to experience something completely left-of-field and out of the ordinary.

Gay Paris

Rainbows in Le MaraisLe Marais is the traditional epicentre of the gay scene in Paris and it has a bustling nightlife to match.

Les Souffleurs is a little tough to find, but it’s worth the hunt. With a good-value happy hour and a young, hip and eclectic clientele, this is fun for a boogie any night of the week.

Raidd (site possibly not SFW), also in Le Marais, is a slightly more up-tempo joint. Often packed, this is a lively place where the main attraction is the live shower show. Yup, you can watch a hot guy shower through a window. Nice.

Where to stay?

Les Piaules ParisAfter a great night out, you’ll need a great night’s sleep. Montmartre is a good area to stay in for sightseeing and easy access to the Metro. There’s tonnes of excellent options to choose from, but two of our favourites are Perfect Hostel and Le Village Hostel Montmartre. And close to the vibrant, multi-cultural Belleville area, Les Piaules has quirky retro charm and curtains on each bed, giving you an extra level of privacy whatever dorm you choose.
